First-time buyer mortgages in Uxbridge and West London

Deposits, affordability and each step explained before you commit.

I'm buying my first home

The short answer

First-time buyer mortgages, in plain English.

Most first-time buyers need a deposit of at least 5% of the property price, plus money for legal fees and surveys. Lenders check your income, outgoings and credit history to decide how much you can borrow. An adviser compares lenders' criteria for you and manages the application through to completion.

Who it's for

Anyone buying a home in the UK who hasn't owned property before — on your own, with a partner, or with family help towards the deposit.

What happens once I get in touch?

How first-time buyer advice works.

  1. Check affordability

We look at income, deposit and credit history, then get an agreement in principle.

  2. Make an offer

Once accepted, we recommend a mortgage and explain the costs in writing.

  3. Application and valuation

We submit your application; the lender values the property.

  4. Offer to completion

Your solicitor completes the legal work and you collect the keys.

Didn't find your answer? Ask us directly.

Can I get a mortgage with a 5% deposit?

Some lenders offer 95% mortgages. Rates are usually higher and criteria stricter, so we show how they compare with a 10% deposit.

What is an agreement in principle?

A lender’s indication of how much it may lend, based on a basic check. It helps show sellers you’re serious, but isn’t a guaranteed offer.

Can family help with my deposit?

Many lenders accept a gifted deposit with a signed gift letter. We’ll explain the options and what the lender will ask for.
